喬安納的房間

詩名〈給那些我在火爐邊聊天的人〉，到底葉慈跟那些人聊些什麼？

他們聊到了三種人：第一種是居住在熱情靈魂裡的黑暗人們，就像住在枯樹裡的蝙蝠(line 4-5)，這些dark folk不知道是誰，但從這個蝙蝠的明喻可以知道總是不是什麼好東西。

第二種是任性的人，他們悲傷又滿足地嘆著氣，因為他們的夢想從來就沒有結果(line 6-9)。為什麼夢想會沒結果呢？因為這些人從來沒動手去做，所以也不可取。

第三種是真正投入戰鬥的人，葉慈描寫他們像是火焰中的天使，有著長長的翅膀，像風暴一樣使劍，鏘鏘的擊劍聲奏成狂喜的樂章，戰鬥直到天明(line 10-16)。

以文章的結構來說，最重要的不是會被第一個被提及，就是擺在最後，而且篇幅最長；所以葉慈讚頌的是哪一種人，應該非常明顯了吧？

To Some I Have Talked with by the Fire

And talked of the dark folk who live in souls

Of passionate men, like bats in the dead trees;
